Ancient Egypt Resources
for School-Age Children
To the Egyptians, the pharaoh was not just a ruler. Pharaohs were
believed to be living gods, the children of the chief god, the sun god Ra. The
pharaoh often married his own sister. Their son would become the next pharaoh
and would in turn marry his sister, thereby continuing the
dynasty.
